The 42nd winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Thursday 26th April 1855 over the Ditch Mile, was Habena (Evens fav), a chestnut filly by Birdcatcher out of Bridle, owned by the 7th Duke of Bedford. The winner won by 3/4 length in 1 minute 47 secs, with a head back to the third. A field of 11 runners contested the race which was worth £1,950 (Equivalent to £198,900 in 2017)
